The Basics

What Is Dealership Auto Transport?

Dealership auto transport is vehicle shipping built around how dealers actually move inventory — auction purchases, dealer trades, off-lease returns, customer deliveries, and transfers between rooftops.

Instead of pulling a porter or salesperson off the floor to drive a unit across the state, a licensed carrier picks it up and delivers it to your lot with no added miles, no travel costs, and a Bill of Lading documenting its condition at both ends.

At NEXLogistix, we match your units with vetted carriers from our network of more than 10,000 transporters and give you a final-price quote with $0 due at booking — so you know your landed cost before you bid, trade, or sell.

Auction Pickups

Getting Units Out of the Auction

Auction pickups go smoothest when the carrier has everything they need before they pull up to the gate. Missing gate passes and unclear lot locations are the most common causes of a wasted trip and a delayed unit.

Send us the details below with your quote request — or as soon as you win the vehicle — and we'll pass them along to your assigned carrier.

Buying a high-end or exotic unit? We can arrange enclosed transport to keep it in front-line condition. Standard inventory ships on open carriers, the same way manufacturers deliver new cars.

Auction Pickup Checklist

  • Gate pass or release form from the auction (we'll need it before the driver arrives).
  • Auction name, lot location, and the buyer or stock number for each unit.
  • Year, make, model, and VIN for every vehicle.
  • Whether each vehicle runs, drives, and steers — and any known damage.
  • The auction's pickup hours and any lot-specific rules.
  • Keys — confirm they're with the vehicle or at the auction office.

Pricing

How Much Does Dealer Car Shipping Cost?

Transport is part of your cost per unit, so it should be predictable. Here's what determines your price.

Distance & Route

Longer trips cost more overall, but busy interstate routes between major metros are usually more efficient than rural pickups.

Number of Units

Shipping several vehicles from the same pickup point is often more efficient than booking them one at a time.

Vehicle Size & Type

Full-size trucks, vans, and SUVs take more trailer space and weight capacity than compact cars.

Running Condition

Inoperable auction units need a winch or liftgate and extra handling, which can add to the cost.

Open or Enclosed

Open transport is the most affordable for standard inventory. Enclosed is available for high-end and exotic units.

Timing & Flexibility

A flexible pickup window gives us more carriers to choose from. Rush pickups and peak seasons cost more.

Your Quote Is Your Final Price

A transport price that jumps after you've committed eats straight into your margin. We don't do that. The price we quote is the price you pay — with $0 due when you book.

The Process

How Dealership Auto Transport Works

Simple, transparent, and nothing due until a carrier is on the way.

  1. 1

    Request Your Quote

Send us the pickup and delivery locations and vehicle details. You'll get a final-price quote — no hidden fees added later.

  2. 2

    Book With $0 Down

Nothing is due when you book. We match your units with a vetted carrier running your route.

  3. 3

    Pickup & Inspection

Once a carrier is assigned, a deposit (or full payment, if you prefer) secures the spot. The driver inspects each unit and documents it on the Bill of Lading.

  4. 4

    Delivered to Your Lot

Your units arrive at your store or your customer's door. Inspect, sign off, and pay any remaining balance directly to the driver.

Timing

How Long Does It Take?

Transit time depends mostly on distance and route. Shorter regional moves can be completed in a few days, while coast-to-coast shipments commonly take about one to two weeks from pickup.

Carriers work with pickup windows rather than exact appointment times, since traffic, weather, and other stops on the route can shift their schedule. The sooner you send us an auction win or a dealer trade, the more carriers we have to choose from.

Stay Informed

Updates Without Chasing

Once your carrier is dispatched, you'll receive status updates and your driver's contact information so you know when to expect pickup and delivery — and can tell your customer or sales team exactly where a unit stands.

Each vehicle is inspected on the Bill of Lading at pickup and again at delivery, giving you a clean condition record for every unit.

FAQ

Dealership Auto Transport FAQs

What is dealership auto transport?

Dealership auto transport is vehicle shipping for car dealers — moving auction purchases, dealer trades, off-lease returns, customer deliveries, and inventory between locations using licensed car carriers instead of having staff drive the vehicles.

Can you pick up vehicles from dealer auctions?

Yes. We arrange pickups from dealer auctions nationwide. We'll need the gate pass or release, the lot location, and the vehicle details so the carrier can get the unit out of the auction smoothly.

Can you ship multiple vehicles at once?

Yes. Whether you're moving two units or a full load, we can coordinate multiple vehicles from the same pickup location. Include every vehicle in your quote request so we can plan the shipment together.

Do you transport inoperable vehicles?

Yes. Non-running auction units and trade-ins can be loaded with a winch or liftgate. Let us know which vehicles don't run, drive, or steer so we assign a carrier with the right equipment.

Can you deliver a vehicle directly to my customer?

Yes. Every shipment is door-to-door, so we can deliver a sold vehicle straight to your customer's home or business anywhere in the 48 contiguous states.

How much does dealer car shipping cost?

Your price depends on distance, route, number of units, vehicle size, running condition, open or enclosed transport, and timing. Request a quote and we'll give you a final price — not an estimate that changes after you commit.

How long does dealership auto transport take?

Transit time depends mostly on distance. Shorter regional moves can take a few days, while coast-to-coast shipments commonly take one to two weeks. Flexible pickup dates help us match your units with a carrier faster.

Are vehicles insured during transport?

Yes. Every carrier we work with is required to carry active cargo insurance. Each vehicle's condition is documented on the Bill of Lading at pickup and checked again at delivery. Personal items and loose dealer plates or accessories should be removed before pickup.

Do I have to pay upfront?

No. There's $0 due at booking. Once a carrier is assigned, you can either pay a small deposit and the remaining balance directly to the driver at delivery, or pay in full at that point so nothing is due at delivery.

Does the carrier transport the vehicle title?

Carriers generally don't transport titles. Titles and ownership paperwork should be sent separately between the auction, dealers, or buyer through your normal process.
