Rio Grande Valley Car Shipping
Car Shipping To & From the Rio Grande Valley
The Rio Grande Valley is one of the most popular winter destinations in the country. Every fall, thousands of Winter Texans from the Midwest and Canada head south to McAllen, Mission, Harlingen, and South Padre Island — and many ship a car instead of making the long drive.
The Valley is also a fast-growing region in its own right, with families, students at UTRGV, and healthcare and trade workers moving in all year. Whether you're coming down for the season or relocating for good, we match your vehicle with a vetted, insured carrier already running your route.
We service the entire Valley, from Rio Grande City to South Padre Island. Every shipment is door-to-door, comes with a final-price quote, and has $0 due at booking.

Local Know-How
Getting Around the Valley
I-2 (US-83) runs east to west through Mission, McAllen, Pharr, Weslaco, and Harlingen. I-69E (US-77) connects Brownsville and Harlingen with Corpus Christi to the north, and I-69C (US-281) heads north from Pharr toward San Antonio. The Queen Isabella Causeway links Port Isabel with South Padre Island.
Northbound traffic leaving the Valley passes through Border Patrol checkpoints on US-77 and US-281, which can add a little time. Many Winter Texans stay in RV resorts and gated 55+ communities, so share any access rules ahead of time so your driver can plan the best spot to load or unload.

Rio Grande Valley Car Shipping Tips
A few local things that can affect your Rio Grande Valley shipment.
Winter Texans
Southbound demand into the Valley peaks from October through December, and northbound peaks from late February through April. Book a few weeks ahead, and tell us your spring plans so we can quote the trip home too.
Moving to the Valley?
New Texas residents generally have 30 days to register at the county tax office. Hidalgo, Cameron, and other Valley counties don't require an emissions test. Check with your county tax office or TxDMV for current requirements.
Hurricane Season
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Pickups and deliveries near the coast — especially Brownsville, Port Isabel, and South Padre Island — can shift when a storm is in the forecast.
Students & Families
We ship vehicles for students at UTRGV and South Texas College, and for families relocating to McAllen, Edinburg, Harlingen, and Brownsville.

How Much Does Rio Grande Valley Car Shipping Cost?
Here's what determines the price of shipping a car to or from Rio Grande Valley.
Direction & Season
Shipping into the Valley in the fall — or out in the spring — runs with the Winter Texan rush and typically costs more.
Distance
Valley to San Antonio or Houston is a short trip; Valley to the Upper Midwest is a long one. Your exact cities make the biggest difference.
Exact Address
Addresses near I-2 and I-69E are easiest to reach. Island and gated-community deliveries may need extra planning.
Open or Enclosed
Open transport is the most affordable and how most cars travel this route. Enclosed costs more but shields your vehicle from weather and road debris.
Vehicle Size
Full-size trucks and SUVs take more trailer space and weight capacity than sedans, so they cost a bit more to ship.
Pickup Flexibility
A flexible pickup window gives us more carriers to choose from — which usually means a better price and a faster match.
Your Quote Is Your Final Price
Some companies advertise a low number to win your booking, then raise it once your car is waiting on a truck. We don't. The price we quote is the price you pay — with $0 due when you book.

FAQ
Rio Grande Valley Car Shipping FAQs
How much does it cost to ship a car to or from the Rio Grande Valley?
The price depends on distance, route, vehicle size, open or enclosed transport, season, and how flexible your dates are. Shipping with the Winter Texan rush typically costs more. Request a free quote and we'll give you a final price — not an estimate that changes later.
When should Winter Texans book car shipping to the Valley?
Book 2 to 4 weeks before your preferred pickup date. Southbound demand peaks from October through December, so earlier is better.
How long does it take to ship a car from the Midwest to the Valley?
Most shipments from states like Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin take about 3 to 6 days after pickup, depending on your exact locations and the driver's other stops.
Can you deliver to an RV resort or 55+ community?
Yes. We deliver to RV resorts, mobile home parks, and gated communities throughout the Valley. Share any gate codes or access rules ahead of time so your driver can plan.
Do you ship cars to South Padre Island?
Yes. We deliver to South Padre Island and Port Isabel. Weekend and holiday traffic on the causeway can affect timing, so weekday appointments are often easier.
Can you ship my car back home in the spring?
Yes. Many Winter Texans book both directions. Share your spring plans when you request your quote so we can plan the return trip before northbound demand picks up.
Does hurricane season affect car shipping in the Valley?
It can. When a storm threatens the coast, carriers may delay pickups or deliveries for safety. Keeping your dates flexible between June and November helps.
Do you ship cars from the Valley to other Texas cities?
Yes. We handle in-state moves like McAllen to San Antonio, Houston, Austin, or Dallas. Every shipment is door-to-door.
Is my car insured during transport?
Yes. Every carrier we work with is required to carry active cargo insurance. Your vehicle's condition is documented on the Bill of Lading at pickup and checked again at delivery. Personal items left in the vehicle are not covered.
Do I have to pay upfront?
No. There's $0 due at booking. Once a carrier is assigned, you can either pay a small deposit and the remaining balance directly to the driver at delivery, or pay in full at that point so nothing is due at delivery.
